一年一度的法兰克福国际书展十月十号正式拉开了序幕. 法兰克福书展可说是国际上规模最大, 展品最丰富以及服务设施最先进的国际性书展, 每年大约100多个国家和地区约 7000家参展商参展. 除10多万作者、出版商、书商、图书馆管理人员、艺术品收藏者、插图作者、代理商、新闻杂志从业人员、情报经纪人等书业界专业人士外, 还有约30多万名观众参观. 每年都有一个国家作为主宾国. 今年的主宾国是Catalan, 明年将是土耳其. 中国将在2009年第一次作为法兰克福国际书展的主宾国.
法兰克福国际书展涉及的内容有图书、漫画、电子媒体、日历、艺术品、地图、杂志、报纸等; 参展的主要目的是展示图书、洽谈版权交易以及合作出版等以达成贸易和寻求合作机遇. 据统计每年约有75%的版权贸易是通过法兰克福国际书展达成的.由此可见法兰克福国际书展在国际上的巨大影响.
书展其间,每年颁发一次 “德国书业协会和平奖”, 作者签名, 经典章节讲评, 朗读等活动,政界人物, 文化界, 艺术界名人等也参观书展. 有趣的是主宾国不但展示自己国家的文化, 艺术, 以及相关的书籍等, 还展示本国的传统小吃, 特产等等. 参观者在参观之余还可欣赏到主宾国的饮食文化.

2007 Frankfurt International Book Fair
The Frankfurt International Book Fair 2007 was officially opened on 10th October to the 14th October. The Frankfurt International Book Fair is one of the biggest international book fairs in the world. It has the largest scope, the most items and the most advanced service equipment. Around 100 countries and regions and about 7000 exhibitors take part in the Frankfurt International Book Fair every year. Besides 10.000 authors, publicans, book traders, artwork collectors, representatives, journalists and information agents, ect. Professional visitors, there are more than 30.000 visitors come to the Frankfurt International Book Fair. Each year it has a Guest of Honour , this year is Catalan, next year is Turkey’s turn. China will be the Guest of Honour in 2009.
The contents of the book fair are books, comics, electronic media, calendars, artworks, maps, magazines and newspapers; the main purpose of the book fair is to exhibit books, discuss copyright business as well as to seek the opportunities and chances of corporation. It is said that about 75% of copyright trade is made on the Frankfurt International Book Fair.
During the exhibition the “Deutscher Buchpreis ” – “German Book Price ” is awarded every year, apart from that, signatures, reading and discussing best chapters, etc. events are held. Many famous politicians and celebrities in arts and cultural circles also appear on the book fair. The interesting thing is that not only shows the host country it’s culture, arts and related books and magazines, but also it’s traditional specialties, such as food, drinks and so on. All visitors can taste and enjoy the host country’s food culture for free on the Frankfurt International Book Fair.
